I've taken on this challenge to raise awareness of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It is a long term, debilitating illness which affects over 250,000 people in the UK, including some of my friends. Many people with ME/CFS already live in their own kind of lockdown due to the illness. Many struggle to understand its impact on their lives and due to lack of understanding and awareness they face disbelief and discrimination and struggle to get the help and support they need. 

ME/CFS is more than just being tired! People with ME/CFS experience severe, persistent fatigue. Other symptoms can include chronic pain, sleep disturbance, cognitive difficulties, digestive problems and sensitivity to light and sound. Around 1 in 4 are so severely affected that they are left house or bed bound, unable to care for themselves.

The charity Action for ME provides support and information to people with ME while campaigning hard for better public services and more research into the illness.
