Cranleigh RDA Sponsored Ride 2015 · 3 April 2015 ·

Enriching lives through horses At Cranleigh RDA, our horses benefit the lives of disabled children and adults in riding activities. We provide therapy, fitness, skills development and opportunities for achievement – all supported by our amazing volunteers and qualified coaches. RDA is an inclusive and diverse organisation. We welcome clients with physical and learning disabilities and autism, and there are no age restrictions. We are a charity, and we can only carry out our life-changing activities thanks to the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our volunteers and the good nature of our fantastic horses.

Story

Thank you for visiting our page!  Please give your support to the two Casi’s Farm Teams, Blue & Louie and  Robbie & Aero who will take part in the Cranleigh RDA Sponsored Ride 2015 to help raise money for the charity. All the ponies are usually engaged in RDA activities along with their five stable mates.

This year for the first time ever two of our special needs riders- Cerys Claydon  on Blue and Sophie Orr on Louie, will do the shorter 3 mile route for accompanied riders. This is a brave undertaking for them and will be the furthest they have ever ridden!

Alice Lee and Sue Keen, regular Cranleigh RDA volunteers and exercise riders, will ride two of our larger horses, Robbie and Aero. Taking part in the ride requires special preparation for them – 11 mile rides are not part of these horses’ normal programme and demonstrates their extraordinary versatility. And they will love it!

Our group’s mission is to bring the opportunity to ride to as many children and adults with special needs as we possibly can. Being disabled does not mean you cannot have enthusiasm or capability for sport. Riding is beneficial in lots of ways.  It can make people stronger, fitter, happier and more confident at the same time as giving a great deal of enjoyment and simply improving quality of life.

All the money raised from our Sponsored |Ride goes to meeting the costs of the upkeep of our ponies at Casi’s Farm, Cranleigh and there are many!  Feed, bedding, shoeing, tack, rugs, veterinary and dental care, physiotherapy, fields in which to graze and let off steam, all are vital to the quality care we give our ponies.  Other costs are associated with creating the right riding conditions and environment so that our riders, currently over 200, can participate safely and happily.

We could not operate without the help of over 180 wonderful volunteers. Their time, freely given, is a critical and remarkable factor in keeping our costs down.

Please help us continue to make a difference to the lives of those who come from all over Surrey and parts of West Sussex, whether it be with a school, Care Home or individually, to ride with us.

Thank you!
