We use running to advance gender equity globally

Hi there!

We’re Allicia, Cassie and Nikki, and we’re excited to form Australia’s female team for the Asia & Oceania 24 hour running championships (meaning we run as far as we can in 24 hours). The race will be held in Bengaluru, India on 2-3 July 2022.

Although it’s rare for Australian representatives to fundraise at an official event, we believe we can make a difference to women who haven’t had the same opportunities as us.

Together, we’ve benefited from supportive communities of friends and family who nurtured our enthusiasm for running and the outdoors, which has helped us to realise running goals that our younger selves wouldn’t have even fathomed.

Many women aren’t lucky enough to be exposed to the outdoors and running due to societal and cultural norms that can limit their opportunities and freedom to participate.

That’s why we’ve chosen to support Free to Run.

Free to Run works to support women and girls in areas of conflict to build physical, emotional, and social wellbeing through adventure sports.

They provide them with the tools to become leaders in their communities, challenging negative norms and boldly reclaiming public spaces.

The goal is to increase opportunities for women and girls to engage in public life, using sport as a tool of empowerment and education.

Free to Run members are role models in their societies, bringing people together across cultural, ethnic, and religious lines. You can learn more about Free to Run by visiting their website and learning about the impact of their work here:

Thanks so much for your support.
