The Castle Green Hotel in Kendal has named the North West Air Ambulance as its Charity of the Year for 2007 and hopes to raise £20,000 for the appeal over the next 12 months. 

As part of its commitment to the charity, the Hotel, which also celebrates its 10^th anniversary this year, is to host two prestigious events for local businesses and residents including a black tie charity ball to raise funds exclusively for the North West Air Ambulance in November 07 and a fantastic charity summer garden party on Sunday 12^th August 07.

The decision to name the North West Air Ambulance as Charity of the Year was very much a team one and made by the hotel's 10th anniversary committee that

includes representatives from each department within the hotel - many of whom have worked at the Hotel and lived in Kendal since the Hotel opened 10 years ago.

Managing director Tim Rumney said: “It is important, when celebrating a milestone anniversary like this, to ensure that all the team have a say in any activities we are planning which is why we decided to set up a 10^th anniversary committee.

"As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations we wanted to give something back to the local community and the committee came up with plenty of suggestions for local charities which they would like to support," continued Tim. "However, the decision to choose the North West Air Ambulance was unanimous.  Lots of people do not realise that this valuable service relies entirely on voluntary contributions and, being based where we are, it is a service that is extremely relevant to everyone in our area.  All of us hope we will never need to use the North West Air Ambulance but it is fantastic that the life-saving service exists should any of us ever need to do so."
