I will be walking all 630 miles of the South West Coast Path to fundraise for The Farming Community Network. FCN is an organisation and charity run by volunteers to support those in the farming community during difficult times. Farming can be a volatile industry, subject to changes such as the weather or fluctuating market prices, which are usually beyond farmers’ control. It can also be a lonely and isolating occupation, sometimes with little to no social interaction. FCN volunteers provide free advice and practical support to those in need for a variety of different issues such as poor mental wellbeing, financial difficulties and family disputes. Coming from a farming family myself, I see the value of FCN and hope to raise money so they can support more people in the industry.
