Fire walk · 2 February 2019
Alice’s Arc was inspired by the ongoing cancer journey of Alice, diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma at 3 years old when a lump appeared on her neck. She was treated under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital and Jacksonville, Florida’s Proton Institute. Treatment involved almost two years of in-patient chemotherapy, out-patient chemotherapy and proton radiation in the USA. Alice is currently in remission. Alice’s parents became aware of the lack of funding in to research for childhood cancers and so Alice’s Arc was born to help find a cure.
Our son Frankie had the same cancer as Alice and endured the harsh protocol of treatment. Some of the drugs for Rhabdo have been around for 30+ years as it’s not a common cancer funding into new drugs is very sparse. It’s seems only the common childhood cancers get the new drugs and constant research.
We litterally walked across fire to get our son through the harsh and barbaric treatments of chemo and proton radio therapy spending alomst 4 months in America for the proton. So a fire walk seems a very fitting way to raise money for the charity and awareness to childhood cancer.
If you can spare anything to donate to this amazing charity close to our hearts or know anyone who can please sponsor us. We would be so very grateful.
The firewalk is on the 2nd February 2019 in Sevenoaks everyone is welcome to watch and support us.
Much love, Cathy and Rachel xx
