Story
We (Catherine, Hannah and Naomi) will be completing a 5km run next weekend to help Rudolph fill Santa’s sleigh with presents, and give the gift of A Future for Every Child this Christmas.
We would be very grateful if you could help support Street Child’s Future for Every Child campaign by sponsoring us today.
We are lucky here in the UK to have such a great educational system in place (which has only been reinforced by its resilience during the recent lockdowns). Not all countries have what we take for granted.
Street Child believes every child deserves the chance to go to school and learn. Currently, 125 million school-aged children are out of education worldwide. Millions more children are in school but failing to learn.
Street Child believes that achieving universal basic education is the single greatest step that can be taken towards the elimination of global poverty.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit, at least one third of the world’s school children have not been able to access any form of learning, close to half a billion students are still affected by prolonged school closures, and 24 million of the most marginalised children, of which almost half are girls, are at risk of never returning to a classroom.
We need to act, and we need to act now because every child deserves a future.
Street Child is based in 16 countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burundi, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Liberia, Nepal, Nigeria, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sri Lanka and Uganda.
