Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

In December 2016 my Uncle Tony sadly passed away after fighting a battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. An awful disease that scars the lungs and and breathing becomes increasingly difficult.

He was a quiet, reserved, shy man who never complained about any of the illnesses he had.  He was like a second father to me with an absolute heart of gold and would do anything for you. Sadly he was taken away from us far too quickly and far to young.

Toward's the latter stages of the illness, it became apparent that he needed to go into a Hospice - and St Luke's it was.  The care that my Uncle received during his short stay there was second to none. They go above and beyond for every single person who is in their care.  I cannot sing their praises highly enough.

In order for St Luke's to continue to give their amazing care and support to not just their patients but to the patient's families they rely on donations. They don't charge fr any of their services to their patients.  It costs £1,160 per hour to run St Luke's 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Although they have a high profile in Sheffield and the local media, some people assume they are a "rich" charity.  This, they are not. If all their income was to cease, they would only be able to keep going for about 6 months.  This would be an absolute travesty. Therefore, I would be so grateful if you could give any amount large or small towards this amazing cause.

I've never entered any type of race before and although this would be a huge personal achievement for me, I know Uncle Tony would be gobsmacked at the thought that I was even running, let alone running in a 10K race!! Let's make him proud!
