Story
For those of you who don't know, The Pavement is a monthly magazine for the homeless, which now goes out to people living in London, Scotland and the West Midlands. I worked on it for five years, but stepped down as news editor earlier this year.
A bit of background on the mag itself - unlike the Big Issue, it's not a vehicle for rough sleepers to make money, but rather to inform and hopefully entertain them.
The Pavement has broken stories that are crucially important to people who live on the streets, from regular issues like dodgy batches of heroin doing the rounds and people being beaten up, to the rise of TB, data protection breaches, government-approved deportation and Operation Poncho.
Amazingly, all this is done with just one person on salary. The writers work for free, the distributors get it to the relevant centres for free, and for the rest we go cap in hand to potential donors - though, to maintain our independence and integrity, we are selective about who we approach.
Anything that you can give would be a real help, but I know times is tight for everyone so don't worry if you can't do it.
Though I will point out there's over a month between now and then, so you all have at least one pay day to get through...
