Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

We would like to raise money in memory of Mark Towers; a loving husband, dad and friend. He was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumour in March 2016. We were told this was a highly aggressive form of brain tumour and that the prognosis was terminal. However, Mark fought through this and received  radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Sadly, 5 months later Mark lost his battle with the tumour and passed away suddenly at home with his wife and step-children by his side.

During the time of his diagnosis we researched and contacted specialists around the world for second opinions and alternative treatment options. Through this we discovered that Brain Tumour research is highly underfunded , which is why we have chosen "The Brain Tumour Charity" for donations in his memory.

Through this very difficult time we have learnt that there is ground breaking research that requires more funding due to be completed over the next few years. Therefore, we hope the donations made to this charity will contribute and enable the development of more successful treatments and hopefully a cure in the future.

We hope that families in the future will benefit from this research to enable their loved ones to fight and beat the battle against brain tumours.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank his care team at the Nottingham City Hospital Oncology - his consultant Dr Karen Foweraker and oncology specialist nurses Kelly and Helen.

Thank you,

Sue, Catherine, Libby, Stephen and all the family xxxx
