Catherine's Great North Run 2020

Virtual Great North Run 2020 · 13 September 2020 ·
This year is different. There wont be a start line and there wont be thousands cheering to the finish line BUT there is a new opportunity...
For everyone's safety, this year's Great North Run, an important date in the calendar for hundreds of fantastic charities, has had to be re-imagined. The large crowds of the original event make such a challenge unsuitable for Catherine but given this year's format, there is the opportunity for Catherine to complete the race, at her own pace, close to home and alongside family support. Although the distance will be walked, not ran, this is still a tremendous challenge for Catherine, especially for someone who walks 2 steps for every one of ours!
On Sunday 13th September at 10.30 am, Catherine will start the 13.1 miles of the Virtual Great North Run alongside fundraisers all across the country. The route is planned and training is going well, all we need now is your help in supporting Catherine's chosen charity.
Catherine goes to Botton Village (part of the Camphill Village Trust) three days a week; two days spent working on the social farm and the final working in the shop and food production centre. Due to the events of this year, Catherine has been unable to attend her placements but has continued to receive support from the Trust remotely. During this difficult time, the support and activities provided by the staff at Botton and the wider trust have kept Catherine's spirits up and in touch with all her friends in the village. They have facilitated projects for Catherine to do from home and provided near-daily online activities. As a family, we are extremely grateful for the fantastic level of support received and this is Catherine's way of saying a small thank you! If you would like to find out more about the Camphill Village Trust's mission and work then please see their charity details below!
Thank you for supporting Catherine in this challenge and if you see us out training, give us a wave!
