Story
Since Autumn 2025 (age 26) I’ve been undergoing treatment for triple negative breast cancer, including over 5 months of chemotherapy followed by a bilateral mastectomy on the 20th April 2026.
I saw this challenge and thought it would be the perfect way to celebrate finishing treatment, my 27th birthday month, and help get my fitness back. Who knows, by the end of the month I may even jog the odd mile (if my healing chest permits it). Cancer really does change you as a person, as pre-cancer Catherine hated running, post-cancer Catherine is excited at the prospect of a run!
Anything you can donate would of course be very much appreciated, but regardless of if you donate or not, please make a promise to yourself to check yourself every month! Coppafeel have great text reminders and resources to show you how to check yourself properly and know your normal. Checking isn’t just for women who are over 50, it’s for everyone! Yes I mean you 😉. Anything you do find, don’t mess about, get it checked out! Please try not to stress, remember it’s most likely to be nothing / benign, but it’s important to be sure.
Breast Cancer Now fund vital research - very recently in March 2026 they made a breakthrough in my subtype of breast cancer:
New research from our scientists has revealed a weakness in triple negative breast cancer cells linked to a gene typically only active in reproductive cells. Targeting this gene may hold the key to new treatments for this breast cancer subtype
This May, I’ll be walking 100 Miles to raise money for Breast Cancer Now – the UK’s leading breast cancer charity. 💗
In those 31 days, breast cancer will take almost 1000 lives in the UK. They are mothers and daughters, colleagues and friends. Men as well as women. Loved ones.
Every pound raised will help support Breast Cancer Now’s life-saving science and life-changing support. So they can continue to tackle the disease, whilst seeing and supporting the people it affects.
Every mile matters. Every pound counts. Will you support me in going the distance for Breast Cancer Now? 🎀
