My Story of Hope · 29 October 2021

Individuals and families in our region continue to fall into more complex patterns of poverty. This past year, record numbers came to us to find safe shelter and meet basic needs. Will you help us unwrap fresh starts for our neighbors in need.

Story

At 22, Terri has been victimized several times by those who should have protected her. After several attempts to figure out her future on her own, she approached us. She identified three goals she wanted to tackle to create a healthier future for herself and her 8-month-old child: She wanted strength to leave an abusive relationship, the chance to have a job and the knowledge to develop financial independence. With the support of generous donors, we were able to spend the time necessary to teach her the emotional and practical skills necessary to be healthy and whole. She found a job and learned how to budget her money and prioritize a safe place to live. We helped her cover initial move-in expenses, and she handled the rest. Recently, she announced that she wanted to re-pay what she regarded as a loan to help her get on her feet. We reminded her that banks and credit bureaus need repayment. Our business is providing shelter, stability and hope. You can provide hope to today.
