In 2014, mum was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia. She started losing her memory at least five years before that but she eventually attended a memory clinic and the result of that indicated the diagnosis we had been dreading.

It's been a long journey but mum is in a care home where she is safe and cared for and a popular member of the community over in Aberystwyth.

So, why cycling? Well, three years ago I took up cycling to keep fit. Since then I have cycled, with others, for charity and for fun we cycled the London 46 in 2016 which was an amazing experience on closed roads in central London.

So, when Velo Birmingham was announced for 2017 I decided to register and gained a charity place to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.

Starting in the heart of Birmingham city centre, the route will wind its way into the picturesque counties of Worcestershire and Herefordshire through rolling countryside, lush green woodlands and quaint towns and villages lined with cheering spectators.

So, I would love to raise as much as I can for this amazing charity. One day they will find a cure for this awful disease and it can only be done by research and yes, that costs money. So please please sponsor me, just a little bit makes all the difference :-). Thank you :-).
