Story
On October 3rd I will be attempting to run the London Marathon. I am not a natural runner and this will be my first (and quite possibly only!) marathon.
Two years ago my cousin, Katy Scott, was diagnosed with breast cancer and as my training started to get harder I decided to put all my miles to good use, and raise money for a cancer charity. I asked Katy which charity she would like me to raise money for and she chose Penny Brohn UK, a charity that helps people live well with cancer and one that had given her a huge amount of support during her cancer journey.
Running a marathon is a challenge, but a small one compared to the emotional and physical challenges that cancer patients face as they fight this horrible disease.
Penny Brohn UK gives anyone affected by cancer the practical, emotional and social support they need to improve their quality of life and to manage the fear and uncertainty that a cancer diagnosis may bring.
On Monday 6th September Katy lost her battle with cancer. She was 49. Her death will make running the marathon all the more poignant - but I am even more determined to to finish it in her memory and to raise as much money as I can for her chosen charity.
Please help me support Penny Brohn UK by donating whatever you can.
