In July 2012 our nephew Josh Furber decided to take on the challenge of completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise money for CLIC Sargent, a fantastic charity that supports children and their families suffering with cancer.

On 6th of January this year we lost our beloved Josh to a tragic accident.  Josh passed away whilst he was off  'Living the dream' on a university gap year in New South Wales, Australia.

On the weekend of 4th May 2013 a group of Josh's family members and mates from Leeds (where Josh was at university), will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in his honour and to celebrate the beautiful life of Josh.

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge - We are aiming to complete the 3 Peaks in under 12 hours!

The mountains of Whernside (736 m/2,415 ft), Ingleborough (723 m/2,372 ft) and Pen-y-ghent (694 m/2,277 ft) are collectively known as the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The peaks, which form part of the Pennine range, encircle the heads of the valleys of the River Ribble and of Chapel-le-Dale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the North of England. The walk covers a distance of 37.5 km (23.3 mi) to 42 km (26.1 mi) (depending on route) circuit of all three peaks with nearly 1,600 m (5,249 ft) of ascent and descent.

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. We provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. We are there from diagnosis onwards and aim to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement.
