Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2014 · 24 May 2014 ·
As you know I talk a good story, and in January this year my husband decided to put his money where my mouth is and paid the enrollment fees for me to do the Edinburgh 10k on Saturday May 24th this year.
Initially, although I do love my dance classes, I could hardly run for a bus, but after 11 weeks training I'm running 5k continiously for 38mins and I've still got 10 weeks to work on the next 5k.
People keep asking me why I'm doing this given that I'm not really into running. There are several reasons:
1. Because I can and I'm not getting any younger.
2. Because every time my husband completes a marathon I feel so incredibly proud of him and hope that he and my family will feel the same when I do this, even though it's a fraction of the distance.
3. Because in doing so I can raise funds for a charity of my choice. I've chosen Tommy's the children's charity who save babies' lives by funding research and providing information on the causes and prevention of miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth. Not because I've experience any of these, but because lots of you, my friends and shop customers, have and every story I hear is just as heartbreaking than the one before. I'd love to be able to raise more funds in the hope that just one family won't have to go through what some of you have.
If you're reading this then I'm 100% sure that you're a Mum, Dad, Granny, Grandpa, Auntie, Uncle, Brother or Sister than that you'd hate for anyone in your family to suffer the loss of a child, so PLEASE dig deep, and if you're not washing your hair on Saturday 24th May at 9am it would be absolutely fantastic if you could come along and cheer me on, if not please show your support by making a donation.
A thousand thanks, Catriona
