Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect us all personally and professionally.

As CEO at Muscular Dystrophy UK I am very concerned about the impact felt by our community of people and families who live with degenerative muscle wasting conditions.

I know 2021 will be another challenging year, and therefore decided to support our community by undertaking a tri-event challenge, which will reflect the peaks and troughs we are experiencing. The funds raised will support essential research and services.

By the 27 February, I had completed over 225 miles, mostly by getting up at 5.45am! But then I sustained an injury on a session, which has since been diagnosed as a tear to my labrum (hip cartilage). I spent March in recovery, only managing 8 miles in a month!

Whilst awaiting treatment and a longer term diagnosis, my incredible Senior Leadership Team offered to keep my LEJOG going.

So from the end of March; Rob Burley is continuing LEJOG for a month, he will be followed by Emma Jones-Parry, Stephen Mooney, Wojtek Trzcinski and Dr Kate Adcock. I will update you on their journey and my recovery and return to LEJOG. Who knows, I may even make it back for the marathon over 24hours?

My original tri-challenges:

On 1st January, I started the virtual Land's End to John O'Groats challenge: 874 miles.

On 11 April, I planned to participate in the virtual Royal Parks Half marathon:13.1 miles. - This has since been cancelled due to injury!

On 3 October, I hope to complete the  virtual Virgin London Marathon: 26.2 miles. - This has since been cancelled due to injury!
