We’re creating lasting change for millions of people with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest places. We work alongside people with disabilities, their families and communities, making sure they have access to healthcare, education and a future where they can thrive.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I find it incomprehensible that Society cannot find such a small sum of money to give sight to someone.

From a religious point of view it is hard to think of anything that is more relevant for us to offer to our fellow man. From a political point of view , it has to rank just after the requirement to provide secure borders and safety on the streets. From an economic point of view , the loss of labour of the person so afflicted and those who have to help them harms productivity. From the world's oldest functioning democracy, previously Tanzania's 'mother country', we should be assisting our former colony and preserving our deservedly won position as the 'acceptable face of Capitalism'.

Please give as generously as you can. I have set a target to help 100 people for each year of my life, hence the target of 6000.

A Trust with which I am associated has offered to match that which everybody gives up to £35,000.00-the amount of £70,000.00 being required to provide 6,000 people with the gift of sight.

You can pay by credit card, by cheque or CAF (Charities Aid Foundation) cheque payable to CBM (Christian Blind Mission) please mark it on the back for the '60th Appeal'.

CBM is supporting Mvumi Eye Department which is located in the dry and arid region of Tanzania. The area has a high population density and the project provides eye care for the population of Dodoma rural district.

Extensive clinical and outreach services are provided. Ophthalmic and Cataract Surgeon training is ongoing. The project plays a key part in eye care of the region through sight restoration and blindness prevention giving thousands of people new independence as well as a chance to lift themselves out of poverty.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. CBM UK gets your money straight away and, if you’re a UK taxpayer (not using CAF), Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you very much!
