Covering a distance of over 2,000 miles, Route 66 is one of the original highways in the United States of America, running from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before terminating in Santa Monica in Los Angeles County, California. It’s a long distance to travel, which is why we thought it would be the ideal challenge for a small team from Community Church Putney to aim to cover throughout the month of April to raise awareness and money for The Bethany Children’s Trust as part of their ‘Spring into Action for BCT Conquerors Challenge’.

The Bethany Children’s Trust (BCT) is a wonderful charity we support as a church that was founded by our very own Susie Howe 24 years ago. BCT is dedicated to mobilising Christians to respond to the needs of vulnerable children. To achieve this, they partner with church-led, community-based projects, helping to restore the lives of some of the world’s most marginalised children to ensure they are loved, valued, safe, nurtured and free to reach their God-given potential. The BCT currently focus on projects which support children with disabilities or HIV, living on the streets or accused of witchcraft.

Will you support us as we attempt this challenge?

Okay, you may be thinking, ‘Well that’s going to cost a lot of money to fly a team to the U.S. for this challenge!’ Yes, that would be a bit much, which is why we are aiming to complete this challenge virtually via ‘The Conqueror Virtual Challenge’ website/app (www.theconqueror.events/route66). Each person on our team will walk, run, cycle, dance, clean their house or do some gardening to add a bit of distance each day to take us, as a team, further along our virtual map of Route 66. It’s a tall order for us and it will be a genuine challenge. We would love to have you cheering us on and contributing some pennies to raise as much money for BCT as possible whilst we do this.
