This year, CDL's Chosen Charity is The Wellspring, a resources centre for homeless and disadvantaged people.
CEO of The Wellspring, Jonathan Billings, commented: "During these unprecedented times, the need for funds is greater than ever. We have experienced a huge rise in the number of people presenting as homeless or struggling with their mental health over the past couple of months, which will only increase as the effects of the pandemic continue.
With cancelled fundraising events resulting in a worrying loss of income for us, we are very grateful to CDL for its support and look forward to seeing what else it can achieve through its virtual activities."
The Wellspring actively engage with people who are at risk of becoming homeless, therefore preventing homelessness from happening. they provide referrals into housing and have supported over 1500 rough sleepers get off the streets and into safe accommodation.
The Wellspring provides free meals 365 days a year and offer educational courses, such as computer and art classes. Additionally, they offer health services including a drop-in GP sessions and referrals into specialist teams, such as drug and alcohol.
