Dear All,
On 18th September 2009 I will be 60 years of age. To celebrate my pensionable status, I will be taking part in the Great North Run half marathon, which will be held on the 20th September in Newcastle.
It is for this purpose I write. I am trying to raise at least £1000 for the National Autistic Society. I should therefore like to ask for your sponsorship. I have been training since February and I am ahead in my training plan. I have already run 21 kms in training (once!), which is of course the complete half marathon.
I have never attempted anything like this before, so I’m looking forward to achieving my goal. I was motivated to do this by a gentleman well into his 90s who had just completed the run last year and I saw him being interviewed after the race. That is what made me think – if he can do it …. Moreover, both our sons Mark (in 2004) and Greg in (2005) have already completed the Great North Run.
Why the NAS? – In 2005, Mark was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome Disorder (ASD). ASD is linked to Autism. For further information on both ASD and Autism please log on to the following link.
