Story
On Sunday 28th June 2015, my sister Sarah, my husband Andrew, my eldest son Angus and I will be running the Compton Colour Blast 5K in memory of our Mum and Grandma Cecily Parker.
Mum was active all of her life until July 2013, where she found herself falling over and losing her balance. On September 1st of the same year, she was unfortunately diagnosed with a Grade 4 Brain Tumour. Most sufferers will lose their battle with this terrible disease within 12 - 14 months. Mum lasted 14 months, leaving us on Thursday 6th November 2014.
Cecily refused to give in to the tumour, even though she was heavily reliant on other people and having to use a wheelchair. One of her weekly trips was to The Woods Centre at Compton Hospice, where she would spend the day with other terminally ill patients and be pampered having her hair, nails and massages. The photo you see on this page is of Mum at Compton.
In July 2014, Mum was admitted for respite care to Compton where she was looked after lovingly. Compton visited Mum regularly after she returned home too.
The whole immediate family (14 of us) are eternally grateful for the love and support they gave Mum and each of us through this difficult journey.
Therefore, please help us to say a big thank you by sponsoring us.
Lots of Love
Kate and Sarah
