I am Managing Director of Michael Smith Switchgear Ltd, based in Leicester and am going to be sleeping "homeless" for one night. On 11th April 2024 I will be undertaking The CEO Sleepout at Mattioli Woods, Welford Road Stadium, home of the Leicester Tigers.

This will be one night where I sleep out, under the stars (or clouds), without a tent to get the smallest insight to what it would be like to sleep homeless. 

In reality though, this is nothing like being homeless…I will more than likely have a meal before arriving, know that I have another meal the
next morning when I leave and know where my next meals are coming from. There is security involved in the event therefore limited risk and no threat from others. I know that the previous and following night, I will be in my home and sleeping in my bed.

To have this experience of one night out to raise awareness and some vital funds for homeless charities will be invaluable.

Although this is a national charity, they support local homeless charities and the money raised will go to fight homelessness and poverty within Leicester and Leicestershire.

I saw this event last year and wanted to join it to raise funds and awareness for homelessness.
