We train amazing hearing dogs to transform the lives of deaf people

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have chosen to do this for a very special cause "Hearing Dogs for Deaf People"     As many of you know, for the last 19 months I have been working at Devon Hearing Care in Kingsbridge.  I have heard first hand how a hearing loss can affect people,  and when fitted with the latest technology how life changing it can be.     The many smiles and life changing comments makes my job worthwhile.  But what if technology however good just wont work???

Imagine if your world was silent and technology couldn't help you? not hearing the things we take for granted like your friends knocking at the door or worse someone who is not your friend entering the house and you cant hear them.  A hearing dog would alert you to let you know.

Deaf people often feel isolated and can lack self confidence and self esteem.  Hearing dogs really can help people to get their lives back. No other form of hearing loss assistance has such a profound effect on a severely or profoundly deaf persons life,  from alerting to important sounds and danger signals that can`t be heard, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock and doorbell, to providing invaluable companionship and being an important visual indicator of an otherwise invisible disabilitly.

In a recent survey of hearing dog recipients 95% had more confidence, 95% felt more secure and 92%  were better able to make new friends and felt much more approachable.
