Story
In memory of Alfie, whose brother is a student with us at CG Swim School.
Alfie died in December 2015 aged just 35 hours, due to medical negligence. After he died, Alfie's parents realised what lack of support there is for families after their babies died in Cambridgeshire.
“Death is something that is such a taboo subject, let alone a baby’s death. It was certainly not something I ever expected to happen to me. The way people are treated and supported in the early days is so vital in their recovery, so we are really pleased to offer this type of support locally.” - Alfie's Mum
Petals are a Cambridgeshire based charity who provide specialist counselling to those suffering trauma and/or loss surrounding pregnancy and birth. Petals have supported Alfie's family immensely and we look to do the same by swimming at the CG Swim School's Swimathon to raise as much money as possible to support Petals.
The idea of the Swimathon came directly from Alfie's older brother who will also be taking part. When the idea came to us, we at CG Swim School jumped at the chance to support such a wonderful cause. We will be swimming the distance from the Caldecote Pool to the Rose which is approximately 12 miles!
Please support Petals by donating to this wonderful charity and by taking part in this fulfilled event!
We look forward to seeing you there!
