MOGSY’S CHAIN REACTION

Day 1 - Bude to Bampton

Annie and G for support on the first day in the worst weather ever - loved the lush chicken rolls and help up the 1 in 25 hill! Great to cycle with you both - how pleased were we to see the Exeter Inn? - especially as the longest I'd cycled in my training was 1 hour 40 mins! x

Many thanks to the Exeter Inn, Bampton for donating to CP Sport – lovely pub and very friendly staff and a great meal!

Day 2 - Bampton to Chilcompton  :  Day 3 - Chilcompton to Frampton Mansell, Cotswolds

Thanks to my cycling buddy Devon Boy Alan for being there on the two longest days – days 2 and 3 were the HARDEST and you got me there and put up with my moaning about my knees and other sore areas!  I so couldn’t have done it without you!  Well earned beers especially after the huge hills in Bath - my memory of Shepton Mallet is also one big hill!  Great support  - thanks again x

Thanks for hospitality and donations from Sue and the locals at the Court Hotel in Chilcompton - lovely hotel and highly recommended

Many thanks to Gemma and Simon from the Crown Inn at Frampton Mansell for putting me up on my trip free of charge...lovely couple and the Inn was fab – accommodation and brekkie wonderful – if you’re in the Cotswolds this is the place to stay!  Good luck with your anniversary weekend :)

see their website and a pic of my arrival here - http://www.thecrowninn-cotswolds.co.uk/PreviousNewsEvents.html

Day 4 - Frampton Mansell to Stratford upon Avon

Thx to Stu for your support on day 4 on that dodgy road!!  Really appreciated seeing you at every layby and encouraging up those huge hills and keeping the lorries at bay on the Fosse Way!!  Thanks so much – you were a star x

Big thanks to Carolyn and Lorr for coming from Bude to the quiz night in Stratford – what a night!!  Well done to our quiz team! – we all had a fab night and raised £540 –Many thanks to Caroline for organising the night !!  More thanks to Caroline and Dermot for putting me up and getting me home! x

Day 5 - Stratford upon Avon to Sapcote, Nr Leicester
Off to Sapcote cycling with Ian who planned the best route ever along country lanes and cycle paths and Trish who was great support and encouraged
me up the hills...BIG thanks Trish for coming along - I mastered the right hand turn that day too! ...I stayed with Phil and Pam Fleetwood that night who were awesome – chicken casserole and major help with the route the next day – can’t thank you enough for looking after me :)

Day 6 - Sapcote to Notthingham

Sam my daughter was the star who arrived with the Bude Windows & Conservatories van - http://bude-windows.co.uk/ - the sun arrived at last too - Sam was my support crew on the last day and saw me into Notts - apparently I was flying along by then - thanks so much Sam for driving all that way from Bude! x

Made it to Notts on Thursday to a lovely welcome from the CP Sport staff and Jonesy arranged a great skittles night! I was useless - Haha broke a finger nail – only .injury from my trip!  Thanks Mark – very good night  and raised a great total of £135.40 x

So end of the challenge!  Missed the cycling the next day! Very welcome sports massage from Horace to help my legs recover – BodyWorks in Bude – highly recommended!

Many thanks to everyone for all your support – off to Spain now for a well earned rest.....

Having been invited to the Cerebral Palsy Sport Awards in Nottingham earlier this year I was very honoured to receive the CP Sport Fundraiser of the Year 2008 Award.  A few wines later and the next fund raising challenge appeared!!

I’m now about to attempt a 300 mile cycle ride from Bude to Nottingham on 3rd to 8th October – on my own but I have some friends joining me en route –  everyone's welcome!   This is in memory of my little nephew Howie who had Cerebral Palsy and was the most lovely boy you could imagine and who I know is watching everything I attempt!

This will be 6 weeks intensive training as my bike has only just surfaced from the darkest corners of the shed.  I’ve had to remember how to ride a bike again and have realised this will also affect other areas of my life – even with a female friendly saddle!!

If anyone would like to come and join me, and share the pain, I’d really appreciate the company – or just come and cheer me on or meet me for a well earned drink at the end of each day!

Link to my route is here: http://www.cpsport.org/fundraisingsponsorship/bikerides.shtml

The following events are happening before and along the way if you want to join me:

16 Sept - An evening with Annie O - clairvoyant/medium - at my house!

1 October - Quiz Night at Bay View Inn, Bude - 7.30 for 8pm - http://www.bayviewinn.co.uk/

6 October - Quiz Night at The West End Pub, Stratford upon Avon - 7 for 7.30pm

CP Sport provides opportunities for people of all ages, like Howie, to have fun and develop mobility and self-confidence through sport.  Being able to participate in sport makes such a difference to those who suffer from this disability.  The charity provides sporting opportunities from grass-roots to elite performance and members of the charity have won more Paralympic medals than any other organisation.  Cerebral Palsy Sport's work is life changing and gives many people the opportunity to build life long friendships with others who understand their difficulties.

Any sponsorship for what will be quite an effort for a non cyclist like myself will be so appreciated by CP Sport and will be a tremendous help for all they try to achieve.  To find out more please take time to have a look at their website http://www.cpsport.org/ and see the great work they are doing.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

If you think you can join me along the route and have an equally sore behind, give me a ring on 07971 590204.

See you in Nottingham on the 8th October if you’re near there...

Thanks so much for your support.
