We are going to be rowing in 8 man boats a MASSIVE 50KM (the same distance as it would be to row the Channel!!). It's going to be a long day and an incredible challenge.

The reason I chose the Spinal Injuries Association was inspired by my amazing friend Hannah Rose - she was left paralysed from the neck down when we were in high school after Transverse Myelitis attacked her spinal cord. It is a rare condition that doctors still don't know a lot about.

Despite all the obstacles thrown at her including some difficult periods of depression, Hannah has remained strong and overcome so much. She completed her GCSEs, A Levels, and a degree. She works full time, and last year became a published author of her own story! Read her book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hannah-Same-Both-Ways-Rose/dp/1780035942

Hannah and I have been friends since we were four years old, and despite living at opposite ends of the country she is never far from my thoughts. I'm so proud of her, she is the bravest person I know. I want to support the Spinal Injuries Association so that more people with spinal injuries can smile as much as Hannah does.

The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is the leading national user-led charity for spinal cord injured (SCI) people.

They provide key services to share information and experience, and to campaign for change, ensuring each person can lead a full and active life. Their aims are to work together in an environment built on RESPECT and mutual support, always be USER LED in their decision making and development, EMPOWER SCI people as the experts in managing their lives, to be COMMITTED to the ever changing needs of SCI people by campaigning for the best treatment and care, CHALLENGE perceptions and behaviours towards SCI, ensuring a more INCLUSIVE society, and have INTEGRITY in their work, collaborating with others where a greater impact can be achieved.

In a nutshell, the SIA help people to rebuild their lives after spinal injury.

Run by the fantastic Adventure Cafe who organised the 25KM Thames Row and 180ft Abseil in 2013.
