Story
Please support us as we attempt to complete the Three Peaks Challenge and raise our target of £1000 for Hand in Hand For Syria!
What is it?
On Saturday 31st May, six brave explorers will brave the harshest and most daunting terrain that Britain has to offer as they attempt to climb the 3 highest peaks in Britain in under 24 hours. The Three Peaks Challenge - a true test of body, mind and spirit. Forced to rely on our wits and each other as we use the weeks of hard training and planning in a glorious effort to conquer Time itself.
The clock starts ticking in the Welsh Alps when we scale Mount Snowdon ascending 1085m into the heavens over a distance of 11km. Up and down as fast as possible pushing the human body farther than it has ever been pushed. On returning to the base we immediately drive an epic 350km around the Irish Sea racing through the green fields of Cheshire and Lancashire as we rush to Scafell Pike. Tick Tock.
Scafell Pike. Ranged in the English Himalayas surrounded by magnificent lakes and rolling hills. 13km of powering through the ancient elements Earth, Wind, Water and Fire. No rest, no relaxation and no redemption. Almost 1,000m of upward struggle pushing the human mind farther than it has ever been pushed. If we survive this mental battle we race 422 km over marsh and dale to the furthest reaches of Scotland as we launch an assault on Ben Nevis. And still the clock ticks.
Ben Nevis. Also known as Mount Doom and where fantastical stories and struggles come to a dramatic and satisfying end. 17km and 1350m of uphill struggle in the war against Nature as we will push the human spirit farther than it has ever been pushed. This is where we go All In and lay our cards on the table awaiting eternal glory or utter failure like gladiators of old as we race to complete The Challenge.
Total altitude gained: 3,414m into the sky (2.1 miles)
Total distance walked: 41,000m along the ground (26 miles)
Total distance driven: 772km along the ground (483 miles)
Why are we doing this most epic of challenges?
To remind the world of the horrors currently happening in Syria. (BBC News - Syria conflict: Barrel-bombed Aleppo 'living in fear' -http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-27180006) Our challenge is small fry compared to what the everyday Syrian is facing but through it we hope to highlight the cruelties of War and raise some money to help our fellow humans in need. Remember that every little helps.
