Throughout 2018 I will be partaking in a number of challenges to raise both awareness and money for the Teddington Trust.



The Teddington Trust offers support and guidance to those affected by Xerodema Pigmentosum (XP), which is a very rare genetic condition characterised by an extreme sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation (UVR).  UVR is present during all daylight hours, found in many types of artificial lighting and even lightning. There is no cure for XP, but much can be done to prevent and treat some of the problems that it causes.  Protection from all sources of UVR is required, including total daylight avoidance via specialised clothing and sunscreens.  A significant commitment to lifestyle changes is also required to mitigate against the risk of exposure and combat its effects.
This condition affects a very small number of people, but it hugely impacts their life and the lives of those around them.  The work of the Teddington Trust is supporting people all over the world to live with and learn about the condition. #BearsforRare is just one of their many projects, with the overall message being that together we can educate and protect.


Any donation, however big or small, towards this hugely worthwhile cause would be appreciated by both myself and the Teddington Trust.
