Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Violinists Joana Valentinaviciute and Elen Haf Rideal, violists Stan Popov and Martin Fenn and cellist Roberto Sorrentino are performing in concerts at different venues across London in aid of Help Musicians' Coronavirus Hardship Fund. The fund helps to support musicians from around the UK who are heavily effected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Let's bring live music back to the stage!

“Music speaks what cannot be expressed,
Soothes the mind and gives it rest,
Heals the heart and makes it whole,
Flows from heaven into the soul.

After months of silence when we couldn’t perform,
And concert halls lay empty from dusk until dawn,
Now comes a time when we have to say,
Enough is enough, we need to play!”
Roberto Sorrentino and his daughter Anna

We wanted to continue a concert series which started in Friern Barnet at the beginning of lockdown. In April this year, Joana and Stan started to play concerts out of their living room window to entertain the neighbours. The concerts then progressed to the pavement outside their home, where a socially distanced audience would congregate. The series of performances proved incredibly popular during lockdown and the aim is to now continue the series in other destinations across London, bringing live music again to people and to raise awareness of the difficult financial situation performers find themselves in at this time.
