Update: due to severe weather on the day we were unable to complete, we set off but the weather took a turn and it became dangerous. Therefore we have agreed to attempt the challenge again starting on Friday 10th August.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to visit our just giving page. Our incredible mother, Julie Dawn Chambers, sadly passed away in the comfort of her home on the 11th May 2018. When mum was given the news that her life was limited to six months, we can say with utter confidence that without the amazing and heartfelt care provided by St Roccos Hospice and their wonderful staff on a few occasions, that her final six months would have been much more difficult than it already was for her. St Roccos are a hospice that is very, very close to the Chambers’ heart, and it is my absolute honour to take on a challenge to raise as much money as possible for what it the most worthy of causes.
The Challenge is nothing like anything we have ever attempted before, but this is an amazing charity - so dig deep!
On Friday the 27th July 2018, we (Lee and Jamie Chambers and our good friend Sebastian Wakefield), will be heading to Snowdonia National Park to complete the grueling Welsh 3000’s mountain challenge.
Starting by hiking up Snowdon on the Friday, we will sleep at the summit before waking up just prior to sunrise to begin the challenge. After touching the true summit point on Snowdon, we will proceed to traverse the remaining Welsh mountains in the National Park who’s summits are all above 3000 feet. The peaks are as follows and in order:
Snowdon 3556 feet
Garnedd Ugain 3494
Crib Goch 3028
Elidir Fawr 3031
Y Garn 3106
Glyder Fawr 3284
Glyder Fach 3286
Tryfan 3011
Pen Yr Ole Wen 3208
Carnedd Dafydd 3425
Carnedd Llewellyn 3490
Yr Elen. 3156
Foel Frach 3202
Carnedd Gwenllian 3038
Foel Fras 3090
The total ascent is just over 4,000m or 13,123ft and we will finish having walked circa 40 mile!
Hopefully our logistics team - made up of Joanne, Matt and his wife Andrea Lewis, and Sebastian’s fiancée, Alice, will be waiting with three very cold beers when we complete the final peak!
We will utilise social media streams to post pics and videos where possible so please get behind us all folks. This effort is going to be beyond anything we have attempted, but with St Roccos and the wonderful memory of Mum in our minds, we certainly don’t need anymore motivation.
Thank you for reading, and please accept our eternal gratitude for any contribution you make to this cause.
All the best,
The Chambers/Wakefield team
