Don and Margaret Chambers were firm believers in respecting the environment, and that respect has had a great impact on the community, both within their hometown of Rutherglen in Victoria, as well as through Don’s work as Chair for Keep Australia Beautiful for 10 years.

Don and Margaret were married in 1955. He and Margaret were married for fifty-two years. It was a marriage filled with love and respect. They travelled the world, as Don competed in the World Masters Athletics. Margaret sadly passed away at the age of 72 in September 2012. Don, aged 78, passed away in October 2015.

At the of bequest Margaret, Keep Australia Beautiful offer grants to Young Legends within the Sustainable Communities Awards programs, which allows young finalists to attend events held all over Australia. Margaret was a strong believer in fostering positive community partnerships involving youth.
