Story
Chang£? is all about showing how donations can be better used to help more people, and give those people sleeping rough hope and guidance.
In Liverpool, we are more than happy to give a pound to someone who looks to be in need. Chang£? aims to encourage people to think before they give money to someone on the street. This campaign is about educating people to realise that a pound given straight to a rough sleeper can do more harm than good as giving money directly often encourages people to stay on the streets.
Support centres and charities, on the other hand, have more ways of helping out.
A pound given to Chang£? will go further, giving people the real help that they need. The money will help many people rather than just one.
And that’s what Chang£? is all about – changing the way we think about people on the street, and providing an easy and effective alternative to giving change to those sleeping rough or begging.
Working together with support centres, Liverpool organisations and local communities, Chang£? will be letting people know the most effective ways of helping out.
Chang£? will also be raising funds for life-changing places like The Whitechapel Centre, that work hard all year round to provide support, fresh meals and real opportunities.
There are pounds that will change things and pounds that won’t.
