We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

The Channel 4’s Comedy Gala celebrated its fifth year in May 2014; the Gala supports Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. It is always a very special evening for all of  the audience, we have the opportunity to relax and enjoy some of the best comedians of our time whilst raising funds for a new operating theatre at the hospital.

At Great Ormond Street Hospital, they treat children from all over the country, many of whom have complex and difficult conditions which need surgery. Some children have conditions which mean that they may need to have many operations over many years.

The hospital badly needs additional operating theatre capacity so that it can help children who require both emergency and planned operations. Sadly too many children are waiting for procedures and we want to make sure that we can give them the help they need as quickly as possible.

That’s why they are in the midst of a major redevelopment programme which will give the hospital more space and enable them to treat up to 20% more children. This includes additional operating theatre capacity.

None of this would be possible if people did not fundraise and events such as Channel 4’s Comedy Gala make all the difference.

We would also like to pay a very special tribute to the late Addison Cresswell, without his dedication to the hospital and his determination to help us, Channel 4’s Comedy Gala would not have been possible.
