My swim for Alzheimer’s Society · 5 May 2024 to 30 September 2024 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

We are back for round two!

Last year, 12 of us started training every Sunday morning for the notorious channel swim challenge, hoping to complete our relay attempts in September. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side and we have been delayed a year, so training in the sea has resumed in temperatures from 12 degrees. Our plan for this year is to complete the attempts earlier within August.

I have chosen to support Alzheimer's Society for the duration of the challenge as it holds a close relationship with my family, due to the passing of my grandma Dorothy Evans in 2022 from the disease. Taking part in this amazing swimming fundraiser not only invites both a physical and mental challenge but also allows me to offer support to such crucial cause which additionally holds a special place in my heart.

My aim last year was to raise £500 which we made and even exceeded. So i've doubled the goal to hopefully have raised £1000 for the charity by the end of August.

Any donations are very greatly appreciated - thank you!
