Veganuary 2017 · 1 January 2017 to 31 January 2017 ·

Veganuary is a charity inspiring people to try vegan for the month of January and throughout the rest of the year. Veganism is one of the most effective choices a person can make to reduce the suffering of animals, tackle climate change, and improve personal health.

Story

Veganuary’s mission is to reduce the suffering of these animals by inspiring people to try vegan in January, and throughout the rest of the year.

Now that I own two pet animals, Mitzi the dog and George Liquorice the rabbit, that I care for so dearly and love with literally all my heart, I have contemplated vegetarianism, pescetarianism and veganism. As well as this, I have seen various videos online, and though it can be difficult to determine the source and location, as some of these may be USA, the concept of separating mother and babies, killing infant animals before they are grown and the caging involved in factory farming concerns and upsets me.

So I am trying veganism for January! It may or may not stick, but I would like to try my best to avoid animal products and see where I go from after February. The challenge itself is enough, but if you did want to sponsor me (because though I don't like a roast dinner full stop, I do love my seafood and am fussy anyway so this will be a difficult challenge), it would be great to raise money and awareness for something I believe in, whether others have the same views and actions or not.

I've targetted £2 a day as a mediocre target. This is essentially the equivalent of a dry-january, just food based #standardChantelle.

(I also have two parents evenings in January meaning I can't have my pre-ordered Indian Takeaway of Chicken Tikka Massala, which in itself, is a massive sacrifice and one I am willing to take :( )

Thanks in advance for any support. Any advice on quick foods or dishes would be appreciated!
