On March 18, 2018 I will complete my third marathon. I never considered myself a runner until I realized I had no excuse not to be. Since I first started training in the summer of 2015, I have been running so others can walk. 

Since Rotary and its partnerslaunched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative nearly 30 years ago, theincidence of polio has plummeted by more than 99.9 percent, from about 350,000cases a year to just 37 cases in 2016. To sustain this progress, and protectall children from polio, Rotary has committed to raising US$50 million per yearover the next three years in support of global polio eradication efforts. TheBill & Melinda Gates Foundation will match Rotary’s commitment 2:1. Withoutfull funding and political commitment, this paralyzing disease could return topreviously polio-free countries, putting children everywhere at risk.
