With a focus on patient-centred care, we combine state-of-the art-equipment, novel clinical trials, passionate staff and the most modern cancer research with compassion and effective psychological support so that our patients and their loved ones can feel fully supported throughout their cancer journey. We do this because we know each person and every cancer is unique - we don’t want to treat them all the same. Guy’s is the leading UK provider of care and treatment for people with cancer and we’re dedicated to helping patients navigate what can be the most challenging time of their lives. With all our services located under one roof within our bright and welcoming Cancer Centre, we’re able to offer seamless care every step of the way, from diagnosis, through treatment, and after, in an environment that doesn’t feel like a traditional hospital. We know that the landscape of cancer is changing. More people are being affected, but we’re at an exciting point in time when promising new therapies are being developed and research breakthroughs are waiting to be made. It’s crucial that we continue to fund the innovative research, treatment and exceptional care that takes place at Guy’s to ensure we keep going above and beyond what the NHS alone can provide as we help more people cope with and survive cancer.

Story

Charles and Clive attempt the Liverpool Half Marathon for Guy’s Cancer.

Charles Wilson (ex-Booker and Tesco) and Clive Black (Shore Capital) are attempting the Liverpool Half Marathon for the Head and Neck Cancer Unit at Guy’s Hospital.

Why?  We are raising funds for Guys Cancer.  The unit is doing brilliant work and like the rest of the NHS has done an amazing job through Covid.  We also recognising lost ones, which is why we need to do more, notably Shore’s own Simon Wickham who we lost to the disease last year.

Where?  Liverpool.  Clive knows the city well, albeit more so the hostelries than running routes, and so we shouldn’t get lost.

When? 27 March 2022

How can you help? Sponsor us Charles last ran over 5 miles 37 years ago and Clive is refining his athletic form.

The challenge is such that one backer has been kind enough to match every pound we raise.  If you sponsor £10 Guy’s Head and Neck Cancer Unit will receive £20 and with Gift Aid even more!   “Every little helps.”
