Story

Provided no new injuries rise up to bite me as I train, I'm back to marathon fitness. To celebrate, I'm running the Yorkshireman.

The Yorkshireman is an off road marathon with about 3000' of ascent, starting and ending at Howarth. It takes in Penistone Hill, Ovenden Moor, Denholme, Harden, and finishes with a gruelling slog up the cobbled street from the river to Howarth primary school. I've done it a few times before, but missed the last couple of years due to injury.

Just up the road from the start point is Yorkshire Cat Rescue. They do fantastic work caring for and rehoming abandoned and stray cats, and those whose owners can't keep them any more. My much loved kitty Dumpling was found dumped in a box in their car park last year, and has been with me since shortly after.

It's maybe not as impressive as someone running their first distance run, and I'd run it whether it was for charity or not, but maybe the thought of running it for the rescue will give me the incentive to run a bit harder, and
finish a bit quicker.

In any case, please help me to help them to help the kitties :)

Yorkshire Cat Rescue exists to save the lives of abandoned or unwanted cats and kittens across Yorkshire and beyond. YCR operates a no-kill policy and neuters all cats and kittens before rehoming. YCR receives no central funding and has to fundraise to meet its vet, food and heating bills etc.
