I will be taking part in Ride London-Surrey 100 miles on 29th July.
I have seen first hand the benefit which hospice services can provide to patients and their carers at one of the most vulnerable times in their life.
Yet I hear each day about how hard it is for the hospice to raise the required revenue each year. I usually provide my help directly to patients, but then realised that I could add to this indirectly by doing my bit to raise the necessary resources. Although I try to cycle most weekends, I have never cycled as far as 100 miles on the Olympic Route, nor at the speed required to complete this within the time frame.
I believe passionately that hospice care is what a compassionate society should provide.
So I have decided to put the extra effort in to train hard and have a go for a cause that means so much to me. Any motivation which you can provide to help me attempt this feat of 100 miles cycle in less than 8 hours would be wonderful.‘
