Story

Hi guys,

I have decided to raise a bit of cash for Cancer Research UK ahead of the Hackney Half I am running in a few days time.

Many of you will know I tried one of these runs a few years back and I managed to throw glitter at the bad memory almost immediately so here I am again. It wasn't my favourite experience and I am confident this one won't be any better but I am running for an exceptional cause and one that is very personal this time around.

Just under a year ago my poor father got struck down by a pretty unpleasant cancer that saw him lose his voice and much of himself over a rather grim few years battling a disease that didn't relent.

Many of you will have met the old boy and he didn't want it to get the better of him but unfortunately all good things come to an end. He took a lot of pleasure in watching me suffer round my last attempt at this sort of thing so hopefully I won't look quite so far removed from peak physical fitness this time around.

Cancer Research is the largest independent cancer research charity and its aim is to reduce the number of deaths from cancer globally, a worthy cause I think you will all agree. As the world's largest independent cancer research charity it conducts research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. It also provides information about cancer and runs campaigns aimed at raising awareness of the disease and influencing public policy about a disease we are still often powerless to prevent.

A couple of quid would be greatly appreciated so please take a moment to donate.

Drinks on me after...

Cheeeers,
