Story

Hi

Thanks for clicking! This summer I am doing three bike rides to raise money for the Brain Tumour Research.  These are:

and relax ....

5 Pier Challenge Summary:
Start 07.48 , cycle 57.7 miles, swim in excess of 3.5 km, total est. time 7 hrs 56mins, Eta 15.54

We did it! It was a top time and a great day with big waves, strong tail winds and by the end blistering sunshine. Amazing - thanks to Janet and Bryan for doing the whole thing, Peter from Hastings who showed us round his piers, and all the Brighton swimmers and feeders who helped us on our way.

The Hastings Observer wrote up the story before we set off:

The main event is the cycling 950 miles from Lands end to John o Groats from  Friday 23rd August to Monday 2nd September 2019 including a longest day of 115.8 miles and an average daily distance of 103.1 miles. The greatest daily climb is 7085 feet and average daily climb is 5261 feet.

Plus lots of training rides in between (please come and join me - it gets boring!)

Obviously doing all this cycling is something I will get a lot out of but it also allows me to pester you, my friends, to dig deep and give to an important cause. Around 31 brain tumours are identified in the UK every day. After Leukaemia, brain tumours are the most common form of cancer suffered by children - in other words they are pretty indiscriminate. Brain tumours took my Dad, a great friend and have impacted on other close friends and relatives.

More research is needed to understand brain tumours and it receives a fraction of the funding of the three main cancers. This is a great cause so please give what you can.
