Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Liverpool · 21 September 2021

WHISC plays a vital role in supporting women and families from across the Liverpool City Region, many of whom are vulnerable & in urgent need of assistance and intervention. Community donations provide a vital lifeline, helping to ensure that the women we serve get access to the support they need.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Once upon a time, before the pandemic, I tried to run the Rock 'n' Roll Liverpool marathon. A knee injury put paid to that and I had to make do with a half marathon instead. Fast forward two years, and a lot has changed. After three postponements, the marathon is finally going ahead in late October (I know the top of the page says 21st September, but I can't work out how to change it...). Running kept me sane during lockdowns and gave me a clear goal to aim for when everything else was so uncertain.

Meanwhile, the services WHISC provide have become more important than ever for women in the Merseyside area. When the pandemic meant WHISC had to shut the doors of the centre, their dedicated team switched from face-to-face to telephone appointments, providing a listening ear for women in distress. WHISC continues to provide support groups and drop ins and service users have described the services as a lifeline.

And that, in a nutshell, is why I am raising money for WHISC.

You can find out more about the charity, of which I am a trustee, by clinking on the link at the bottom of the page. These donations will be unrestricted funds. This means that WHISC can use them for whatever they need, from funding a project with vulnerable women to more mundane but equally vital things, such as paying the electricity bill so that services can run.
