Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

I have struggled with disordered eating from the age of 15. After losing almost half my body weight, I was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa aged 19. I have since been treated in hospital and with intensive therapy for anorexia and bulimia nervosa.

My chosen charity, Beat's aim is to raise awareness and challenge the stigma of mental illness.

This charity is very close to my heart. I turned to Beat countless times for help, support and reassurrance when I felt very much alone. If it wasn't for the love and unconditional support of my family and friends, I honestly wouldnt be here.

I wanted to do something that would push me, that requires my body be strong and healthy. This 5k has given me focus and drive to do this for everyone and anyone whose life has been affected by an eating disorder.

"Eating disorders can be beaten".

Thank you for donating (and if you are a UK Tax Payer, please Gift Aid your donation).
