London Landmarks Half Marathon 2021 · 1 August 2021 ·

The Hospital is committed to helping veterans by offering grants for medical treatment at the Hospital. We also help veterans enjoy a greater quality of life by learning how to manage pain via the The Veterans’ Pain Management Programme (PMP) for Veterans’ of the Armed Forces.

Story

We are so thankful of The King Edward VII’s Hospital as they have given our Dad his life back. Dad needed a hip replacement and was in constant pain, but the issue was a hip replacement only has a certain lifespan and with Dad being so young this was a worry. The alternative was hip resurfacing operation which his surgeon recommended and tried to get funding for, but theirs was rejected by the NHS.

The King Edward Hospital is a charity for Forces veterans to access when all other avenues are exhausted. They funded Dad’s operation and he was given the very best care. I’m thrilled to say Dad is now fitter and happier than ever.

So on 1st August Dad will be running running The London Landmarks half marathon with his 2 daughters, me and Janine, and one of his best friends Mike Manley,  just 18 months after his hip resurfacing operation.

We are so proud of how well he has bounced back, he has worked so hard to train for this half marathon so we can all give a little something back to the charity. Apparently his fitness age is now that of a 20 year old, as you can see from the photo he also thinks he’s a 20 year old! 😜

We all appreciate any penny’s you can donate to this wonderful charity so they can go on to help more ex service men/women.
