Dear Friends,
Every year for the past six years i've dragged myself around half marathons, jumped out of planes and climbed over assault courses to raise money for truly worth while causes.
This year i'm raising money for Cancer Research UK and I have decided to take on a bigger challenge...
First Why:
Everyone is affected by cancer at some point in their lives. Be it a friend, family or a loved one - cancer is indiscriminate, destructive and particularly devastating for those who suffer from it.
Unlike the 300,000 people diagnosed with cancer each year,
I am lucky enough to be fit and healthy (albeit a little over weight!) to take part in this year's Tough Mudder. One in three people will develop cancer at some point in their lives; and with odds like those it is perhaps unsurprising that this year that Corrina, Henry and I know of family and dear friends who are fighting or have lost the fight to cancer.
Although £400 is a drop in a tiny ocean, I hope that the money raised will go towards better research into cancer so that we may now more about cancer and at least make the lives of those with Cancer more comfortable; and at the very best that we find a cure for Cancer and bloody-well beat it!
What I'm Doing...
For those of you who have not heard of the Tough Mudder, it is a 20km (12.5 miles) military style obstacle course. Not only is the course just short of a half marathon but involves 25 obstacles ranging from ice pools to electrocution (hopefully not at the same time!)
Anyone who wants to see what I am putting myself through, and have a laugh at my expense, watch the following video http://toughmudder.co.uk/obstacles/course-types
I'm shedding weight and training myself up to do this. It will be tough. It will be very hard. And it will hurt. But with your support I will do it and I will reach my target of £400.
So, dig deep and donate!
