In November, I was very excited to learn that Target Ovarian Cancer had awarded Helme (my sister in law) and I two of its' three places to run in the 2013 London Marathon! The cause could not be closer to my heart as ovarian cancer was the illness I lost Mum to. Progress has been made in the diagnosis, treatment and awareness of Ovarian cancer but the cause does not receive the same funding and awaress as other illnesses. Each year 7000 women are diagnosed with this horrible disease.

And why the marathon??! The marathon is allegedly "the everyday man's Mount Everest" which makes it a huge challenge! I have never been a long distance runner by choice but running the marathon has always been on the bucket list! Aside from the physical aspect it also presents a massive mental challenge! I have just started my training and will be posting my training calendar shortly. I am going to get a few weeks training under my belt and will then set a target time!!

I am motivated, excited and daunted by the marathon but your support will be essential in encouraging me each step of the way. Thank you in advance for your support!
