When I decided to enter for the Brighton Marathon I was stuck on which charity to run for, then in August 2011 I had a call which changed things.

One of my best friends husband had been diagnosed with Testicular Cancer at the very young age of 31. To say I was shocked and upset was an understatment. He has an amazing wife and two gorgeous little boys. After undergoing an operation to remove the tumor I am happy to say they managed to take it all away. He underwent Chemotherapy and thank god is now doing well and has the all clear. I spoke to him while this was going on and said I would like to run this Marathon for you, and asked which charity he would like me to run for and he said Macmillan Cancer Support. He said that they were amazing and really helped when he was first diagnosed, they gave so much support to him and his family which he needed when hearing such terrible news. He also told me that they do so much work with the NHS whom they so strongly rely on.

Since speaking to him, I have spoken to others and told them that I have decided to run for Macmillan Cancer Support and I have received so much positive feed back about them saying what an unbelievable charity they are and how they helped get them, and their family through what can only be described as the most traumatic and upsetting experiences of there lives. I can only be thankful that this turned out so well for my wonderful friends, as I know all too well from my own personal experience with my beloved grandad's Tony, Pete and Aunt Margaret this doesn’t always end happily.

So Kev - This is for you, Mim and your amazing boys Jackson and Harrison. I love you all xxx

Please if you can everyone help me raise as much money as possible to help out families who are going through what my friends already have - every single penny makes a difference and will make me feel a allot better while running those 26 miles.........
