Story

This page is in memory of our beautiful baby boy, Charlie Ethan, who was sadly born asleep on the 29th June 2011.

On Saturday 25th June 2011 after noticing reduced movements, we were told that our baby's heart had stopped beating, the hardest thing for any parent to hear. At 38 weeks pregnant we were exactly 2 weeks away from our due date. We were told to return 2 days later to start the induction process. We returned on Monday 27th June and after 2 failed inductions, Charlie was born on Wednesday 29th June 2011 at 16:16 weighing 6lb 6oz

This was obviously an incredibly difficult time for us but one that was made more bearable by the doctors and midwives who looked after us.

The hospital are trying to raise funds to introduce a Baby Bereavement Suite at the hospital which will be used by families such as ours. This will mean that families in the same situation as us will be cared for in a private, quiet room giving parents space and privacy.

** UPDATE **
I can happily say that our fundraising has now contributed to the completion of this suite which has been named "The Butterfly Suite". Such events are very personal and private times and this facility will help families like ours to continue to be cared for in privacy and more comfortable surroundings.

Although the suite has been completed our fundraising will continue so that The Butterfly Suite can be maintained.

The hospital also provided us with keep sakes / momentos for Charlie such as a memory book with photos, a baby blanket, hand & foot prints, and a set of framed foot casts which we will treasure forever. Of course these items all cost money and without fundraising the hospital would be unable to provide these items which are so very important to bereaved parents and help with the grieving process, these funds will now ensure that all families who have to face what we did will also get these precious items for their baby.

This is an amazing cause and one that is obviously very close to our hearts. We are so grateful for any donations people can give to support this great cause, every bit helps, thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Katie & Graham, Mummy and Daddy to Charlie.
